last week mr. triathlon and skigolf world champion walter fischer and me spent a few days down in italy for biking - had some incredible tours in the dolomites.
highlight of this trip was without a doubt meeting the huber brothers and talking about extreme sports with them - while they were trying out new routes on the tre cime! huber buam |

the this years goal was to defend our team world champion title! never change a winning team..- so again ossi hochfilzer, stefan egger, walter fischer, bode miller and me did this competition togehter.
our golf was pretty bad this time but our skiing was just unbelievable! so in the end it was pretty close but we did it again -
and the party afterwards was kind of a progression session! link |

after the world champs in korea we had a tight travel schedule. from seoul we flew over to aspen and dropped right into the X Games.
after that we'd been to vancouver to join the preolympic venue - i ended up 14th at both events - so after that we flew over to the eastcoast and had a competition in stoneham/quebec. i qulified 13th but decided not start in the final heats so i ended up 19th.
this seasons last oversea stop took place in sunday river/vermont. i qualified another time for the finals.
after that we flew back over to europe and enjoyed the temperature in la molina/spain. the race was fun but the intended semifinal was not reached - i ended up 12th in spain.
at the grand final in valmalenco/italy - i crossed the finish line with extended arms and i was happy with another top 16th place in the world cup.
expecting such a season after my impairment to health in fall would have been megalomaniacal - i`m happy!! snowboard |

pretty close, but no cigar this time... ahead of the world champs me and my friend stefan gimpl were joking about bringing home 2 medals to our hometown leogang from the world champs. he kept the promise bringing home a bronze medal!
i ended up 7th - pretty good result considering the problems i faced in fall. but straight, that day i didn't care about going into too much and felt like acting in whole nother world.
i dominated the quater final racing against mario fuchs and later world champion markus schairer. in the semis i was in first position again and crashed by taking the corner with too much speed.
so i take this 7th with mixed feelings... results |

bad gastein was the only competition in austria 2009 for me. qualifikation was during the day and i made it into the finals. there was a nightfinal showdown with fluid light - but i was out first round.
lots of my fans who came over to bad gastein were disappointed - me too. next stop will be the world champs in korea. so stay tuned for more action! austrian team world champs |

after alomost four months absence due to illness from serious sports i headed over to arosa/switzerland doing the internal austrian team qualification to receive a spot for the snowboardcross worldcup & i used the chance.
in the main competition i qualified 21st for the final runs. pretty good achievement in consideration of the long break. i made the first round and quaters had been final destination this time - so i ended up 14th. honestly it was an emotional victory and kind of payback for the awkward last few months. thanx again to all who accompanied me in this tough time.

in argentina i was infected with an unknown virus which immobilized me for the last couple of months. at first i thought it wouldn't be that serious but i ended up in the hospiatl and had a surgery. after two month i was able to discontinue medications but i kinda hit the bottom of physical fitness.
finally the streak of bad luck should come to an end! by now i'm miles away from my best performance but i never give up dreaming..
on tuesday i'll join the austrian team for the worldcup in arosa / switzerland. probably i don't get a spot to compete but first of all i'm gald to be and feel back on track!
special thanks to doc. peter laszloffy & energetic guru klaus bauer who helped me a lot in this uncommon situation. what we did in the meantime.. |

my end of summer was moreless winter. i travelled over to argentina and was motivated for the south american ballantines open as well as for the this years first world cup.
we had an awesome training in san martino de los andes / chapelco and were well prepared for the competitions. at the ballantines open i was out in the quaters and ended up 15th.
i had to leave out the world cup due to health problems - so i`m already looking forward for the next chance to climb the podium.

Last weekend we tried to defend our Austrian Champion title in golf. The matches took place in Styria / GC Almenland. We won the quaters & semis with really awesome performances - however in the final fortuna was not on our side this time.
Anyway - we did a good job and got vize champion - better silver in golf and gold in snowboarding ;-)
On friday i'm already heading to south america - world cup kick off is on 11th of september - so keep your fingers crossed! i'll keep you updated!

go in and win - german speaking rappers and the best austrian and bavarian gstanzler from all over participated @ the incredible head to head red bull gstanzlbattle.
me and my band - the 'original bergisel sextett' - were there for playing music together with international DJ's. so we mixed these total different styles of music and the outcome was infammatory.
the battles were mind-boggling close - but my devise was: GO IN AND WIN. so i went ALL IN in the big final and threw my opponent 'mortal enemy' with some hilarious gstanzl down. however, big compliments to him cause in the final he tried to kick my ass with doing some gstanzl and left out his rapping! i think when he's in lederhosen and i'm in his rapper outfit next time we gonna have a sick revenge.

perfect conditions on the kitzsteinhorn glacier / kaprun & golfcourse zell am see - where the ski&golf world championchips took place. for the first time there was a teamcompetition.
we had a strong team with single world champion Ossi Hochfilzer, Stefan Egger, Walter Fischer, Bode Miller and me.
lots of our fans came over to support us on the way to the victory - thanx! i think the party after was according to the team worldchamp title!!

after the long winter season we tried our best to get our new songs rocking. i personally think we re on a good way and the fanresponse on our european tour was great. we played a few gigs in munich, rotterdam, amsterdam, hamburg and berlin...
now we re looking forward to upcoming events like the red bull gstanzlbattle in salzburg and don't forget about the breathtaking 'SCHANTEI OPEN AIR' on 4th of july. Original Bergisel Sextett |

first time for me in quebec city and i was pretty stoked about this amazing town! really nice even when the skiareas around are more like hills and no mountains.
it was actually my worst competition this year - i didn`t even made the final... alright, now i m heading forward to the worldcup final in italy! see you in europe |

nice course and good show in lake placid / ny state. it was fun to compete on this course. in my first heat i was in the gates with stian sivertsen, david speiser and shaun palmer - stian was in front and david and i had a tough battle for the second place in this heat.
after a good fight fortuna was on his side... results |

go big in japan! the course was one of the best ever, the weather was lik in deep spring - so perfect conditions. in qualification my board was running hot but i was so suprised that i overshoot all the jumps. in the first round i was third till the last corner and made a sick move on the last corner making sure to advance to the quaters.
there i started right beside icon shaun palmer - out of the gate i was in front, but was overtaken by the u.s. boys cheever and palmer. i had more speed than cheever but was not patient enough to wait for the perfect chance to reovertake.
i tried everywhere but cheever kept the way through closed pretty smart. doing our infight blindly the young australian alex pullin overtook us both.
so now 3 days off in san francisco before we re heading to new york state / lake placid. i won`t miss the prizegiving ceremony this time - go big or go home! results |

another jeep king of the mountain event but first time for me in lake tahoe area. we had massiv snow there and i was pretty stoked about this extraordinary landscape around lake tahoe.
snowboardcross granpa - shaun palmer - kicked our ass again - amazing! i ended up 17th which means pretty good qualification time but out in first round. now its time to get out of averrage - and i think i`m ready & hungry enough. right now i`m already in korea and waiting for the next competition - so watch out! jeeptour |

back to the roots. same hill an almost same course than six years ago when we competed one of the last ISF snowbordcross events. i got a real flashback cause for training we got the original ISF bib numbers... after a hazard qualifikation and a crash i had to save my second run in and i just made it into the finals. this brought me an additional chance to win this competition cause i had nothing to loose.
i made the first round and advanced to the quater finals. there i made a mistake in leading position. well, again one step back to the top. results |

i`m pretty sure that sometimes my body hates my spirit always taking the risk an pushing the limits. but one fact that remains is that i love snowboarding. last ten days i made a trip covered with all facets this sport can offer.
first lukas grüner, manuel uhlmann & me travelled to puy saint vincent/france to do some snowboardcross competitions. i finished 5th at europacup which was quite good. on the second day i chose not to compete cause there was fresh powder and perfect conditions for freeriding. that day i felt like i m in a rush of adrenaline. on the third day when i already signed the mountain everywhere i dropped back into the boardercross and finished third - was kind of a perfect weekend. finished two times top five and had a perfect powderday...
after that we went back to thun/switzerland. every day we were checking the weather and snow forecasts. and wednesday was the day - i think our soulmates the surfers would call this a big day!
mänu took us to schilthorn, one of the best freeride spots i ve ever seen in my life so far. the snow was just perfect - not too much so that we could already drop into the most thrilling lines.
that day reminded me why i m always on the hunt to get some firstlines. and i m pretty sure - on that day, even my body loved my spirit!!

lots of friends and fans came to Bad Gastein and supported me - thanks! - it was a high speed snowboardcross & i had to settle an account cause last time i finished 33rd in Gastein. this time i showed already up with 4th place in qualification.
in my first heat against tom velisek, former Gastein winner - i was in front but not smart enough to win it - i crashed.
all or nothing - so i took the bitter "nothing" this time. my teammate Mario Fuchs was able to defend his worldcup victory!
after my injury i`m back among the best snowboardcross riders now i just have to be patient - i`m sure it will work out in one of the next competitions!

over the last few years snowboardcross was kind of drifting away from its original ideas - but events like the Jeep King Of The Mountain or X Games make sure snowboardcross keeps a core, cool sport that fascinates everybody who`s taking time to watch one of those breathtaking showdowns!
got 12th in qualification which was again one step further back to top level. in my first heat i catched up with the worldcup leader stian sivertsen (nor) & the olympic champ seth wescott (usa). after the start i was in front - made a small mistake in the roler section and missed out to get into the first bank as at least second. rest of the course i was on the hunt of the two top stars. over the finish line it was pretty close but seth was too good that day!
now we look forward to the next competition - worldcup in bad gastein 12. & 13. january!! see you there!!
on the pics below you see shaun palmer who won the sbx and will start now in gastein too & daron rahlves who did the skicross brilliant and finished second in telluride! Jeep King Of The Mountain |

surfing, sense of well-being, culinary delights, good music, feel like coming home!!

2014 - we are ready

morgen haben wir qualifikation / so stay tuned & all the best from the buttermilk mountain in aspen.
